Menlo Park
Review
This tea room is quite elegant and decorated in Victorian/French style. The tables are set with Royal Albert china and silver.
The servers are dressed in English maid uniforms and a bell is provided to summon them.
A scone with real English Devonshire cream and jam is brought to you on the same plate as your sandwiches along with your pot of tea. The tea is served English style (leaves are left in the pot and hot water is added as you drink it). I prefer the French way which is to use a tea sock which is removed before the tea is served.
There are several styles of afternoon tea to choose from such as English, French, Italian, California and Garden. I chose the English traditional which includes five sandwiches (Egg Salad Supreme, Chicken Tarragon, Cucumber Mint, Pesto Nut and Roast Beef) a petite savory and a selection from the dessert tray. The sandwiches were tasty but the Chocolate Truffle cake I chose for dessert was the highlight of the tea!
If this tea room were closer to where I live it would be my favorite! If you wish to be transported back in time in elegant surroundings then you will want to visit this establishment! The gift shop is small but offers a large selection of tea pots and spoons as well as other gifts!!
