Review

I just recently learned about this tea room from www.teamap.com. It has been open since August of last year (2004). I am always surprised at how fast tea rooms come and go but hopefully this one will be around for a long time!!

This visit was with friends that I work with who also love to visit tea rooms!

This is a small establishment but it was not too crowded to get up and look around. I would say that the decor is European with Russian accents. This is not a frilly (Victorian) tea room which is what I usually prefer. There were no table cloths but beautiful marble-like table tops with metal legs which I thought looked very nice. The tables were surrounded by comfortable chairs which is always a plus! A huge painting of people who are dressed in Russian style dress and having tea adorned the room in the back of the tea room.

Our food was brought out on a large three tier server made of heavy glass and was loaded with sandwiches, tea breads, scones, and little petite desserts! We were given the choice of three tea sandwiches each out of five flavors. These sandwiches were quite a generous size and made with various kinds of bread which really went well with the fillings! We tried the turkey waldorf, cashew chicken and tomato cucumber.

There are a generous number of teas to sample and we ordered the Wedding Tea (A white tea), Jasmine with Almond Orange (Green tea), and Peaches & Ginger (Black Tea). I tasted the Wedding and Peaches & Ginger which were prepared perfectly and were quite good. A few of the ladies commented that the Jasmine tea was quite strong and would have liked it weaker. The tea is strained and brought to the table in beautiful china pots.

The pastries and tea breads were quite good. I love to have small dainty desserts to eat with fingers. I would've liked more scones and less of the tea breads because I really love scones with the real Devon cream. I asked the lady who waited on us if they had the real cream and she said that it was a mock version. I do prefer the real Devon cream but this mock version was quite thick and creamy.

Service was wonderful and all of our questions were answered with a smile. Tammy, who is one of the owners, came out to answer one of my questions and was quite helpful! (This is a family owned business!).

This visit was quite enjoyable! I think men would enjoy this room too because it has a huge menu with various items. There is also liquor available which also sets this room apart from many others!!! Be sure and check this place out it is worth the short drive from Sacramento!!
