San Francisco
Review
This tea house should never be kept a secret!! The ladies that run this tea house really know what they are doing!!! If you adore English style tea and shabby chic/Victorian decor then be sure to make the trip to San Francisco!! This tea house is located next to Golden Gate Park and you can use the parking in the park!!
Joyce and I ordered the Earl's Favorite (which is full afternoon tea). Not only was the tea and food delicious but everything was served English style. Our tea was loose in the pot and strainers were provided. I do prefer that the tea be decanted (loose leaves should be strained out of the pot before being brought to the table) but the tea did not turn bitter. Since I do not take milk in my tea I don't like the English custom of leaving the leaves in the pot. We tried the London Fog and a Russian blend. Both blends were superb!!! One pot of tea (it looked like a six cup pot) is provided so if you want more tea it is an extra charge.
Our food was served on traditional three tier servers and was very tasty!! We were given a choice of sandwiches from a menu and they were quite good. We ordered extra scones because one just wasn't enough! I was very impressed that we were given the real Double Devon Cream imported from England as well as lemon curd. Very few tea rooms in the area provide the real thing. I buy Double Devon Cream for my private tea parties!!
Service was quite good and the owners very friendly! It was not overbooked so it was quite a peaceful atmosphere!
It is worth the drive to this tea room!
